Brother Ali announces new Ant-produced album ‘Satisfied Soul’, featuring five songs: listen

Brother Ali has been a fixture in the underground rap scene for decades. Ali is currently based in Istanbul, but he ended up working alongside Atmosphere and that group’s extended Minneapolis circle. He is a fascinating figure, a legally blind Muslim convert with albinism, blessed with the voice of a booming preacher and a gift for keen self-examination. Over the years he has put together a strong catalogue. Now it has been announced Contented soula new album produced entirely by Ant, the production half of Atmosphere.

Contented soul will be released early next year, and there will be no guest rappers. Ant, who released his own solo debut Collection of sounds: part 1 handles full production earlier this year. There’s quite a bit of live instrumentation on the LP, and “Bad and Boujeeco-producer G Koop makes a significant contribution. Along with the announcement, Ali Hams shared five of the album’s seventeen songs, and they showcase the musical chemistry that Ali and Ant have always shared. Of the five, I really like the contemplative psych-rock bap of ‘Head Heart Hands’, but they’re all worth hearing. Check out the songs and tracklist of the LP below.
