A Quick Guide to Transferable Points Programs

Accor Live Limitless Use this point to pay a hotel bill worth 2 euro cents per point. In some cases (such as hotel-to-airline transfer bonuses), it may make sense to convert Accor points into miles from the following airlines at a 1:1 ratio: Finnair, Iberia, Qantas or Virgin Australia 1000 to 500 (Unknown) Aer Lingus Avios Fuel surcharges are sometimes lower when booking with Aer Lingus than with British Airways, Qatar or Iberia. It is possible to transfer points (Avios) between Iberia, British Airways, Aer Lingus and Qatar. See also: Avios Sweet Spots for award flights. 1 to 1 via Qatar, BA (snapshot) AeroMexico ClubPremier AeroMexico is a SkyTeam partner. Club Premier points can be used to book flights on AeroMexico, SkyTeam alliance members (such as Delta or Korean Air), or select partner airlines. Unfortunately, many people have reported that booking awards through AeroMexico is extremely difficult, so we do not recommend transferring points to this program. If you want to travel with AeroMexico, consider transferring points to another SkyTeam partner (such as Air France) and then book AeroMexico with that program. 1 to 1 (~6 days) Air France KLM Flying Blue Monthly Air France promotional rewards Business class tickets often represent very good value for money. Air France miles can be used to book Sky Team awards, including Delta awards. Air France often offers very attractive business class fares between the United States, Europe and Israel. 1 to 1 (instant) Avianca LifeMiles Avianca LifeMiles can be very useful for Star Alliance rewards. They offer reasonable reward prices and no fuel surcharge on rewards. They also offer short-haul flight awards within the US (for United flights, for example) for as little as 7,500 miles one-way. Better yet, their mixed-cabin fares can get you fantastic First class fares. See this article for details. 1 to 1 (instant) British Airways Avios While British Airways flights often incur exorbitant fuel surcharges, many of BA’s partners charge little or no fuel surcharges. It is possible to get great value by redeeming BA points for short-haul flights. It is possible to transfer points (Avios) between Iberia, British Airways, Aer Lingus and Qatar. See also: Avios Sweet Spots for Prime Tickets. 1 to 1 via Qatar (snapshot) Cathay Pacific Asia Miles Cathay Pacific has a good distance-based award chart, but they no longer allow stopovers longer than 24 hours. Cathay Pacific Asia miles can be a good option for booking American Airlines flights with a distance-based award chart, especially if other OneWorld Alliance miles are not available. For long-haul flights, it is possible to reduce the cost of a premium cabin award by adding a lower cabin segment. See this article for more details. 1 to 1 (instant) Choice Choice Privileges points seem to have random value in the United States, but are still valid abroad in expensive places like Scandinavia and Japan. The points can sometimes offer great value when used at participating Preferred Hotels of the World hotels. 1 to 2 (snapshot) Emirates Skywards The best way to use your Emirates Miles is to fly Emirates itself. Unfortunately, fuel surcharges can be high. See: Emirates Sweet Spot Awards – First Class from 30,000 miles return. 1 to 1 (instant) Etihad Guest Etihad offers a distance-based rewards system for flights with Etihad and another for its partners. Points can offer good value for money for expensive but short-haul flights. 1 to 1 (~1 hour) EVA Air Infinity MileageLands If you want to fly business class, the best way to get EVA flights is to use their own miles, as they offer more award space to their own members. One-way business class flights from the US to Taipei cost between 75,000 and 80,000 miles. Fuel surcharges are very low on these routes. 1 to 1 (~2 days) Avios Iberia On its own flights, Iberia offers low award prices and a very reasonable cancellation fee of €25. Partner awards can also offer good value in some circumstances, but are generally non-refundable. Fuel surcharges are sometimes lower when booking with Iberia than with British Airways, Aer Lingus or Qatar. It is possible to transfer points (Avios) between Iberia, British Airways, Aer Lingus and Qatar. See also: Avios Sweet Spots for award flights. 1 to 1 via Qatar, BA (snapshot) Jet Airways Inter Miles JetAirways JetPrivilege miles are only useful in a few very specific cases, such as some flights to Hawaii for as little as 15,000 miles (30,000 business class miles) one-way, or to the Caribbean or Central America for as little as 10,000 miles (20,000 business class miles) one-way. You can find more details here. 1 to 1 (instant) JetBlue JetBlue points offer the best value when tickets are cheap and when award taxes are high relative to the total cost of the ticket (more details here). The JetBlue Plus Card and JetBlue Business Card offer 10% back on awards, so you can get more value by holding one of these cards. 1 to 1 (instant) The best hotels in the world It is often possible to get 8 cents per point or more in value from LHW points. 1K to 200 (instant) Malaysia is getting rich Given the devaluation of the Malaysian Reward Chart in June 2017, I am not aware of this. any good uses for those miles. 1 to 1 (1 to 2 days) Qantas Loyalty Program Probably best use is for flights on El Al with no fuel surcharge. Also useful for short AA flights. Qantas offers similar distance-based award charts to Cathay Pacific. Both are members of the OneWorld alliance. I recommend comparing award prices between the two programs before switching to either. Qantas offers around-the-world business class awards for just 280,000 points (but with many restrictions) 1 to 1 (~1 day) Qatar Privilege Club Avios Qatar offers reasonable reward prices for flights within Qatar. It is now also possible to book JetBlue flights with Qatar Avios. 1 to 1 (instant) Shop Your Way Rewards Don’t do it. Shop Your Way points can be redeemed for a variety of gift cards. That said, unless Shop Your Way starts offering discounted gift cards, there’s no point in converting transferable points to Shop Your Way. 1 to 10 (instantaneous) Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Use it to book Singapore Airlines First Class awards (usually reserved for their own members), Alaska Airlines Economy Class awards, or Star Alliance awards (including United Airlines). 1 to 1 (~1 day) Thai Airways International Royal Orchid Plus I don’t know of any good use for these miles. 1 to 1 (3 to 7 days) Miles and Smiles from Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles offers a number of great rewards, including $7,500 one-way anywhere in the US, even to Hawaii. Many rewards cannot be booked online, but can be booked by phone or email. See: Best Uses for Virgin Atlantic Points (Sweet Spot Spotlight). 1 to 1 (instant) Wyndham Wyndham often lets you book multi-room suites for the same price as a standard room. This can sometimes be a great value with points. Bonus: Reward nights are exempt from resort fees. Plus, you can book Vacasa vacation rentals for as little as 15,000 points per room, per night. Wyndham Earner cards automatically earn 10% back on reward stays. 1 to 1 (instant)
