Deonna Purrazzo Praises AEW Women’s Locker Room Amid Britt Baker Drama

The AEW locker room has been called into question in recent years with the massive CM Punk vs. The Elite fight where many AEW stars had previously stated that the atmosphere in their locker room was great. With Punk moving on to other wrestling projects now back in WWE and AEW doing their own thing, the drama has remained relatively quiet. Recently, Fightful Select released a report about an alleged backstage altercation between former AEW Champions Dr. Britt Baker, DMD, and MJF. Baker expressed his frustration with MJF in the locker room and these words apparently got to him because of his girlfriend and AEW backstage interviewer, Alicia Atout. She was reportedly suspended afterward, shortly after her big in-ring return. This certainly caused a stir on social media, with Baker even coming to his own defense.

Deonna Purrazzo Defends AEW Women’s Locker Room

When asked how the TNA and AEW locker rooms compare, Purrazzo notes that they are “very similar.” She had been with TNA for several years and considered the roster a family. “I think it was just an instance that sparked a lot of drama and it also took on a life of its own,” Purrazzo told Stephanie Chase about She deviated“Rumors start to circulate and things are not what they used to be. People add their two cents and it makes the situation much more serious than it was.

I think it was an isolated incident because everything I’ve experienced in that locker room is encouraging, supportive; there’s a lot of camaraderie. We recently celebrated people’s birthdays, had birthday cake, and sang. I feel like that locker room doesn’t get enough recognition for that type of camaraderie. I don’t know what it was like before. I can only speak from my experiences, but I feel like it doesn’t get the recognition it deserves.” (h/t: Fightful)

Baker’s suspension was recently lifted by AEW as she prepares to face Mercedes Mon? at AEW All Inclusive After weeks of heated back-and-forth, Purrazzo is part of one of the hottest non-title women’s rivalries in AEW right now against former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa. They will face off in AEW’s first-ever women’s Bullrope match and only the second in the promotion’s history.
