17-year-old shot to death in East Charlotte identified

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A teenager found shot to death Sunday afternoon has been identified as 17-year-old Oscar Paisano-Perez.

Police were called to an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Eastcrest Drive, near Central Avenue, around 3:30 p.m.

Detectives found Paisano-Perez with a gunshot wound. He died on the spot. There is no word yet on a motive or suspect in the shooting.

This is the second fatal shooting on Eastcrest Drive in less than two months.

The other took place on September 26, 2024. In that case, two men are charged with the murder of 25-year-old Khyre’ Grier.

Police were called to the 1700 block of Eastcrest Drive around 7:30 a.m. for a welfare check. They found Grier dead from a gunshot wound.

Officers arrested 49-year-old Fabio Herminio Funes the next day and charged him with murder.

CMPD’s Homicide Unity tracked and arrested a second suspect, 34-year-old Ramon Alexi Santos Funes, on October 2, 2024 in Orange County, Texas.

Crime maps show 99 crimes have been reported within 1,000 feet of 1600 Eastcrest Drive in the past six months.

The crimes include assault, breach of the peace, theft, vandalism and fraud.
