Pakistani national charged with plotting to assassinate US officials

This week, the Justice Department charged a Pakistani national with plotting to assassinate current and former U.S. officials. The suspect, Asif Merchant, is believed to have ties to the Iranian government and is accused of planning a hit-for-hire scheme targeting several high-profile figures, including former President Donald Trump.
