Watch as NJ police officers pull the driver from the burning SUV

Body camera footage captured New Jersey police officers rescuing a driver whose SUV burst into flames after crashing into a tractor-trailer last month.

The crash happened early Oct. 19 when an SUV crashed into a large truck that was on the shoulder of Interstate 287 in Mahwah. WNYW-TV reports. When Officer Chris Lupo and Lt. Mike Blondin arrived on the scene, they sprang into action and pulled the unconscious driver from the burning wreckage.

The driver was rushed to hospital where he was treated. He was released at the end of this month.

“Every man and woman in this profession has a purpose to save lives and make a community better,” Lupo told WNYW. “And I think it’s just a testament to what we all signed up for, and I don’t think anyone would do that. Don’t hesitate to do it again.”
