The Rensselaer Bridge has been renamed in honor of the victim of the deadly military helicopter crash

A Rensselaer bridge has been renamed in honor of a fallen hero.

The Washington Avenue Bridge will now become the CW2 Casey N. Frankoski Memorial Bridge, Gov. Kathy Hochul said Monday.

The Washington Avenue bridge crosses I-90 in Rensselaer.

Frankoski died last March in a military helicopter crash at the US-Mexico border. She was a graduate of Columbia High School in East Greenbush.

New York Guardsmen John Grassia III of Rotterdam was also killed.

Jacob Pratt, a member of the Rensselaer National Guard, was seriously injured.
