Easy Strawberry Fruit Salad Recipe

Easy Strawberry Fruit Salad Recipe

For my strawberry fruit salad, we mix strawberries and berries in a 2-ingredient vinaigrette made with orange juice and a little sugar. This fruit salad is simple, delicious and tastes amazing.

Easy Strawberry Fruit Salad Recipe

Strawberries and other berries come together to create what might just be the prettiest fruit salad ever. I love it as a snack, side, or dessert. When I’m feeling playful, I love to whip up a batch of whipped cream or this vegan whipped cream to serve on the side.

Key Ingredients

  • Strawberries: The base of our fruit salad! Choose red, ripe strawberries that smell good and like strawberries. If you smell them and don’t smell much, they won’t taste very good.
  • Red fruits: I love turning this into a red fruit salad. You can use any fruit you like, but consider raspberries, cherries, and plums to keep with the red theme.
  • Orange: I use the juice of one orange for the easy dressing for fruit salad.
  • Sugar: I don’t add a lot of sugar, but a little bit of sugar helps macerate the fruit, which makes it taste even better. You’ll also get a delicious berry syrup to pour over your salad.

How to Make Strawberry Fruit Salad

This strawberry fruit salad is quick and easy to make. Toss your fruit with a little sugar and freshly squeezed orange juice, then let sit for 15 minutes. As it sits, the sugar absorbs some of the moisture from the fruit, intensifying its flavor and creating a delicious syrup at the bottom of the bowl.

After 15 minutes, stir gently and serve! I love strawberries and cream, so I serve my salad with fluffy whipped cream. It’s incredibly delicious!

Easy Strawberry Fruit Salad

Serve this berry salad as a dessert with whipped cream, add it to your oatmeal, or enjoy it as a light snack. We use strawberries as a base and then add other fruits. Sticking to just berries is pretty, but not 100% necessary. Use whatever you like! Here’s our recipe for whipped cream or our dairy-free vegan whipped coconut cream.

Makes about 6 servings

You will need

2 pounds (907 g) strawberries

1 pound (450 g) of soft fruits, such as raspberries, plums or cherries

Juice of one medium orange, about 1/3 cup

1 tablespoon (12 g) sugar

Instructions

1Hull and cut the strawberries in half or into quarters. Cut the other fruits (except raspberries) into pieces the same size as the strawberry pieces. Leave the raspberries whole. If using plums or cherries, remove the pits before cutting.

2In a large bowl, gently mix together the fruit, orange juice and sugar. Let the mixture sit at room temperature for 15 to 20 minutes. Gently toss the fruit salad before serving.

Advice from Adam and Joanne

  • Remains: Fruit softens when in contact with sugar, so this strawberry and berry salad is best enjoyed the same day it is made. If you are okay with softer fruit, it is still delicious the next day (I love it in my daily porridge). Strawberries and plums keep better than the more delicate raspberries.
