Bill has now opened up about his departure while sharing a cute photo of his going away gift.

The cast and crew of the series presented him with a painted portrait of his character Stu.

Her co-stars also wrote her dozens of personalized notes wishing her luck in the next phase of her life.

Bill posted the photo, adding: “Lovely farewell gift with a bottle of premium champagne.”

Many of Bill’s cast members were quick to express their sadness over his impending exit from the show in the comments section below his post.

Elle Mulvaney, who plays Amy Barlow, cried: “I’m going to miss you at work!!!”

While Cait Fitton, who plays Lauren Bolton, posted: “We will miss you!!”

Mollie Gallagher, who plays Nina Lucas, added: “I’m going to miss you.”

And Kyran Bowes, who plays Jack Webster, wrote: “Love this @fellows9690 you will be missed.”

Fans were shocked when it was announced that Bill would be leaving the show after playing former homeless man turned chef Stu Carpenter for over three years.

Ken Barlow reveals he won huge sum of money on Coronation Street

The character has been involved in a number of high-profile plots during his time on the show, including one that saw him help bring down vile teen killer Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) after he brutally killed Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni).

Bill joined Coronation Street in 2021, having just finished filming the international hit Ted Lasso.

He played the character of George until the end of the AppleTV series.

Coronation Street’s surprise eliminations in 2024

Corrie said goodbye to several cast members this year. Let’s take a look at who left the popular soap:

Eliza Woodrow (Savannah Kunyo) said goodbye to Corrie to start a new life in Germany.

The girl moved to live with her father Dom Everett, who renounced the £10,000 bribe that Eliza’s grandfather Stu had offered her to keep him out of her life.

Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) will leave the soap this summer after he loses his battle with motor neurone disease (MND) in tragic scenes.

After receiving his diagnosis last year, the fan favourite was devastated to learn he only had months to live.

Viewers know that he is considering suicide to end his suffering.

Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) has left the cobbles behind after being offered the opportunity of a lifetime to study in America.

Although she struggled with the decision-making process in the face of her father-in-law Paul’s imminent death from ALS, she was convinced that she had to live her life to the fullest.

Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) has struggled to come to terms with his father Peter’s sudden departure from the cobbles.

The Weatherfield legend left his family and loved ones behind on Boxing Day 2023, when his wife Carla Connor encouraged him to travel the world with a friend.

Simon has been on a downward spiral ever since and his departure could end tragically.

Alya Nazir is set to leave the streets as actress Sair Khan prepares to go on maternity leave ahead of the birth of her first child.

It seems likely she will head to Dublin after landing a lucrative new job, leaving her colleague and Adam Barlow behind.

The show’s star actress Sue Cleaver, who plays Eileen Grimshaw, is taking a break to take part in the UK tour of Sister Act The Musical. She will resume filming in May, once her tour dates have finished.

Her character left the streets after her son Jason broke his back after falling off a moped in Asia.
