Isolated severe storms are possible on Wednesday

MERIDIAN, Madam (WTOK) –

A cold front will pass through our area from Wednesday to Thursday morning. Ahead there will be plenty of moisture (with dew points in the 60s) along with some “wind power” as you get higher above the ground. There will also be a little instability, but not substantial. Due to the lack of instability, the risk of severe weather is marginal (low). However, there is a window in the evening where isolated severe storms are possible. The main threat will be wind damage, but a tornado cannot be ruled out. So make sure you have multiple ways to receive alerts during Wednesday PM hours. This includes having our free First Alert Weather app: https://www.wtok.com/page/download-our-apps/

Apart from the low serious risk, the rain is certainly necessary. Meridian is experiencing a precipitation deficit this month and parts of our WTOK area are experiencing drought conditions. Tuesday looks relatively dry before 4pm. A few showers may fall during the evening towards the evening. Scattered showers are expected on Wednesday. From there, the chance of rain increases towards the evening as the aforementioned cold front moves into our area. Rain remains possible until Thursday morning when the front crosses. Precipitation estimates Wed. – Thu. AM will vary from 1-3″. But behind the front… the showers will end by daybreak.

Temperatures will remain above average on Tuesday… flirting with 80 degrees. Additional clouds and showers should keep Wednesday’s highs closer to average into the mid-70s, but a nice fall feel will linger behind the front. Friday morning will see a return to the 40s, which will greet us every morning through Sunday. Highs will remain seasonal (near 70 degrees) for Friday and Saturday. So make some outdoor plans this weekend! Sunday will be warm in the mid 70s, but still pleasant.
