Bible store in Fresno hit again, thief caught breaking window with rock

Majesty Bible & Gifts, a Fresno Bible store, is hit again by a thief.

The break-in was captured on surveillance tape Thursday around 5:30 a.m.

In the video, the thief is caught throwing a very large stone at the company’s window.

The thief is caught throwing a very large rock at the window.

He then uses an ax to break the window further.

He is caught running to a parked car and returns with a large trash can.

He begins to make his way through where he invaded, knocking down shop windows and leaving a mess.

“He destroyed some of our displays and stole our safe and several pieces of jewelry,” said Jared Collins, one of the store’s supervisors.

The thief was caught in different camera angles kicking display cases on the floor, breaking them and taking the jewelry inside.

He was throwing them into the big trash can.

After the last break, Collins says we’re prepared to capture every move should there be a next time.

They did this by installing new security cameras.

“We ended up upgrading our security camera recorder and then added eight new cameras. So we have 16 different cameras watching the store, including three exterior cameras, and they definitely came in handy this time because we got some good exterior footage of the guy breaking in.”

He also captured the thief leaving and carrying a safe from inside the store.

“5 minutes of, you know, just one crime causes…weeks of work or even months of stress and extra work for homeowners,” he said.

Collins says it’s not just a loss of a few thousand dollars for small mom-and-pop stores.

He points out that it’s the headache of replacing everything again, the cost of fixing the broken windows and locks again, and calling insurance, all over again.

“We hope the insurance helps, but at the end of the day this is … a big blow to us,” he said.

Collins says they are thankful no one was inside when it happened.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact the Fresno Police Department at 559-621-7000.
