Soni revealed in an August 2024 interview that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse was currently “in full production” and that he and the other voice actors attached to the project would begin recording “in a few months.”

In an interview with ETimes, Soni expressed his excitement about being part of the upcoming film. “I am continuing with Spider-Man,” he said. “We will start shooting for it in a few months, which I am very excited about. This film is in full production. It is an animation, so it is different and it takes a lot of time. We will see when it is ready and when it releases, but I am really excited. It was one of the biggest joys to be able to play this character. So I am delighted to get another chance and do it again,” Soni added.

The Spider-Verse franchise primarily revolves around Miles Morales, a New York teenager who is bitten by a radioactive spider and takes on the mantle of Spider-Man after the death of his dimension’s Peter Parker.

During the interview, Soni noted the impact Spider-Man has had on younger viewers. “What’s been really moving is that people really love this character,” he noted. “Not just my version, but Spider-Man. Obviously, I was a fan of him as a kid, but it’s cool to be a part of something that resonates with young people and moves them because it’s the purest reaction you can get. So I feel lucky to be asked back to do some more of that.”

Soni also spoke about his latest theatrical release, Deadpool & Wolverine, in which he returns as fan-favorite Dopinder, and speculated that we could see Spider-Man and Deadpool team up on the big screen one day.

“I think at some point, for sure…” he said, adding, “Deadpool and Spider-Man have a very special relationship in the comics. It will be used at some point in one of the movies. That would be amazing.”
