Describing her Republican rival Donald Trump as a fool, Vice President Kamala Harris and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris warned Americans on Thursday of the consequences of being re-elected for a second term.

“We know what a second Trump term would look like. It’s all laid out in ‘Project 2025.’ … In many ways, Donald Trump is not a serious man. But the consequences of Donald Trump returning to the White House are extremely serious,” Harris said in excerpts of the speech released by her campaign ahead of her acceptance speech at the United Center here in the Windy City.

“Consider the power that he will have, especially after the United States Supreme Court just ruled that he would be immune from criminal prosecution,” said Harris, who is the first Indian-American and the first black woman to be nominated for president by either the Democratic or Republican parties.

On the final night of the Democratic National Convention, Congressman Jason Crow outlined how the Project 2025 agenda would jeopardize the security of the American people, give China and Russia free rein over their allies, and cut critical benefits for veterans left behind in the United States.

In excerpts of her speech released by her campaign, Harris said: “We know that a strong middle class has always been essential to America’s success. And building that middle class will be a defining goal of my presidency. This is personal to me. The middle class is my source,” she said.

“My fellow Americans, I love our country with all my heart. Everywhere I go, in everyone I meet, I see a nation ready to move forward. Ready for the next step in the incredible journey that is America,” she said.

“I see an America where we hold fast to the courageous belief that built our nation. That inspired the world. Here in this country, anything is possible. Nothing is out of reach,” Harris said.
