Minister orders army to hunt down assassins of Sokoto monarch

The Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has condemned the brutal killing of the District Head of Gatawa in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of ​​Sokoto State, Alhaji Isa Bawa.

In a statement on Friday by his director of information and public relations, Henshaw Ogubike, the minister described the killing as “heinous and unacceptable”, adding that it was “a senseless and brutal act that will not be tolerated”.

According to him, “we will do everything in our power to ensure that those responsible are held to account.”

Matawalle ordered the Chief of Defence Staff to immediately launch a thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

“Security is one of the top priorities of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and he has given full support to the military,” he said.

He assured the public that the Nigerian Armed Forces will spare no effort to track down the perpetrators of this heinous crime and bring them to justice.

The statement further assured residents that they will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians.

He expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the late district head, the people of Gatawa and the entire Sokoto State Government.
