DEVIN TOWNSEND Releases Energetic New Single “PowerNerd,” Announces New Album

Devin Townsend is here to inject some incredibly energetic tunes into your day with his new single “PowerNerd.” Townsend will be releasing an album of the same name on October 25, but in the meantime, you should get lost in the absolutely insane music video above (which features a cameo from Jamey Jasta).

“It was a conscious thing,” Townsend “I thought, ‘I’ve spent so much time overthinking every aspect of my work. What would happen if I didn’t do this?’ Maybe I’d have an opportunity to be a little more direct with what I’m trying to do. I really wanted to see if I could get rid of some of the twists and turns.”

On what exactly a “powernerd” is, Townsend “I would say a powernerd is someone who has a tendency that society deems as weak or worthless, whether it’s empathy or being an insular person or an introvert, and they turn that into some kind of personal power. It’s like, ‘Okay, yeah, I’m sensitive to this, that, and the other thing, but damn it, I’m going to get through it! I’m going to do things with this sensitivity that are rooted in strength.’”
