Concord High School student brings firearm to school in Elkhart

Elkhart, Ind. (WNDU) – A student at Concord Community Schools is facing pending charges after brining a gun inside the school.

According to our reporting partners at Gosen NewsSchool officials responded within minutes after discovering there may have been a weapon in the school around 1 p.m. Monday

Authorities found an unloaded handgun in a student’s backpack, a switchblade and bullets in the student’s pants pocket.

The backpack was confiscated.

The student is now being held at the Elkhart County Juvenile Detention Center and faces pending charges of possession of a firearm and possession of a knife while on school property.

School officials say the student will not return to Concord High School.
