Man struck and killed on I-75 near Mitchell Avenue exit identified by coroner

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – The man who was struck and killed while standing outside a disabled vehicle on Interstate 75 was identified Tuesday morning by the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office.

The man was identified as 47-year-old Reco Williams, according to the coroner’s document.

Cincinnati police wrote in a news release that Williams was with a 42-year-old woman inspecting a disabled 2012 Chevrolet Malibu on I-75 North near the Mitchell Avenue exit on Sunday when he was struck by a vehicle around 1:30 a.m.

Officers were called to the area and discovered a 30-year-old man was driving a 2019 Honda Accord when he lost control and went off the highway, police explained.

The Honda eventually crashed into the Malibu, which then hit Williams, the news release said.

Williams was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment but died from his injuries.

No one else was injured in the accident, police said.

According to the police, excessive speed and restriction were not the cause of the accident.

Witnesses are asked to contact the Cincinnati Police Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
