ICT issues arrest warrants for four officers for genocides in July and August

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today (November 12) issued an arrest warrant against four police officers, including former Commander (Investigation) of Jatrabari Police Station, Jakir Hossain, for their alleged role in the murders and genocides committed during the student massacre . led the mass uprising in July and August.

The three-judge panel of the ICT, led by Judge Md. Golam Mortuza Mozumder, passed the order through which a plea was filed and filed by the chief prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam.

The ICT Chief Prosecutor confirmed the information to reporters and said the investigating body found irrefutable evidence against the four during their
barbaric role during the mass uprising in July and August.

However, the chief prosecutor refrained from releasing the names of the three other suspects for security reasons.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Limon Hossain, who lost his leg after being shot by the Rapid Action Battalion in 2011, today filed a petition with the ICT, calling for the abolition of the elite force.

Limon also called for the trial of former military advisor Tarique Ahmed Siddique, former RAB official Ziaul Ahsan and RAB-8 officer Major Rashed and some others for their role in putting him through the ordeal.
