A woman is dead and a man is seriously injured after a shooting at a southwest Columbus home that may have been an attempted murder-suicide, a police dispatcher told The Dispatch.

A neighbor called 911 around 1:50 p.m. Sunday and reported screaming and gunshots around 1:30 p.m. inside a home in the 1100 block of Parma Avenue, police said.

In an apparent murder-suicide, Franklin County Children’s Services is asking for the public’s help in locating relatives of 3 children

Emergency personnel pronounced a woman dead at the scene at 2:04 p.m. and transported a man in critical condition to Grant Medical Center, according to Columbus police. The man is being treated as a suspect, a police dispatcher said.

Homicide detectives will investigate and no names have been released, police said.

If this is a murder-suicide, it would be the second such incident in a week. On Tuesday, a couple was found dead in an apartment in the northeastern United States, apparently the result of a murder-suicide.
