Haas F1 team stuck at Zandvoort following shock court ruling

Haas are reportedly stuck at Zandvoort following a shock court ruling from their former sponsor Uralkali.

Uralkali sponsored Haas for the first time in 2021, which also saw the arrival of the Russian driver Nikita Mazepin.

However, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Haas cut ties with Uralkali and Mazepin.

While a Swiss arbitration court accepted that Haas had legitimately severed ties with the company, it ruled that the team owed Uralkali a partial refund of its 2022 payment.

Haas stuck in Zandvoort due to court ruling

According to Uralkali, Haas failed to meet the payment deadline set in July and has taken further action in this regard.

Police and bailiffs assessed Haas’ cars and equipment in the pit lane on Thursday night, and the potassium fertiliser producer received an interim ruling in its favour after seeking to seize Haas’ assets at the Dutch Grand Prix.

Haas are currently unable to recover any of their cars or equipment from Zandvoort, with Uralkali resorting to the courts to seize the F1 team’s assets.

Haas can’t leave Zandvoort

The company is awaiting receipt of an overdue refund estimated at $9 million, although Haas insisted the payment was made Friday night.

It appears the funds were not deposited into an account in the Middle East due to delays over the weekend.

However, the team’s equipment will remain at the circuit while the court order remains in place, with the understanding that the Haas trucks will be free to travel to Monza once payment is confirmed on Monday.

Haas confirmed earlier in the weekend that they “will continue to work with Uralkali in the coming days to definitively resolve this issue.”

GP fans reached out to Haas for a statement.
