BJP list for Jammu and Kashmir: Jammu and Kashmir elections: BJP announces first list of 44 candidates

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its first list for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections with 44 candidates.

Some of the prominent names include Er. Syed Showkat Gayoor Andrabi from Pampore, Mohd. Rafiq Wani from Anantnag West among others.

On Monday, ET had reported that the saffron party, which will not form any alliance, had finalised 50 candidates and could field many Muslim leaders.

The BJP is likely to contest 60-70 seats and may support independents on other seats, sources told ET.

Jammu and Kashmir will hold three-phase elections on September 18, 25 and October 1, for the first time since the abrogation of Article 370. The counting of votes is scheduled for October 4.
