Summer camp dress is all adult

Summer camp dress is all adult

With the notable exception of Paul Rudd and the cast of “Wet Hot American Summer,” who wore denim jackets and knee-high socks, a typical summer camp is not a lesson in sartorial style.

But Tie Bar is channeling summer camp and all its inherent nostalgia for a new collaboration with Camp Wandawega, the historic lakeside resort in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.

The newly launched Camp Wandawega x Tie Bar Long Weekend collection celebrates the spirit of camp and the art of dressing well. It features pieces from a range of accessories including bow ties, socks, silk pocket squares, bandanas, cufflinks, shoelaces, unique tie clips designed in Chicago, and a few ties made in the USA. Most items are available now, with more to be added in the coming days, and the collection will soon reach 50 pieces.

Not all of the above items are necessarily clothes you’d wear to light a fire or paddle a canoe, but the collection embraces camp life through retro patterns, patchworks of field and forest artwork, woodland-inspired geometric prints, and a color palette that recalls a bygone era. Each product has a healthy dose of whimsy, but everything still has the sophistication and timeless style you expect from Tie Bar.

We’re partial to Dive Bar’s plaid socks, which come in a variety of colors, and clutches featuring an assortment of flora and fauna. Textured laces can jazz up any boot, whether you’re hiking in the woods or heading down the street to dinner. Fun bow ties can add panache to any formal setting, or tie a bandana around your neck—perhaps one featuring a flock of migratory birds.

The collection is available at Tie Bar’s Chicago flagship store, in case you’re nearby. Otherwise, you can find everything online. Pick up a few pieces and you’ll feel like you’re back at summer camp.

Except you’re dressed much better and you didn’t even get a jail ball.
