Maritime alert: Unmanned surface vessel detected near Yemen coast

UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported an incident 61 nautical miles south-east of Mokha, Yemen on Monday. A ship’s captain identified an unmanned surface vessel (USV) and two small boats in the vicinity.

Meanwhile, British security firm Ambrey has highlighted a separate incident near Aden in Yemen, about 80 nautical miles to the southwest.

Such incidents have been attributed to pro-Iranian Houthi militants who have been targeting international shipping since November in support of the Palestinians in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
