Arsenal ace sends emotional farewell message after confirming transfer

Arsenal have confirmed a new transfer exit as the summer window enters its final days of activity.

Edu Gaspar has been tasked with balancing the squad for the upcoming Premier League title challenge, with plenty of work to do.

So far, the sporting director has overseen the signing of Riccardo Calafiori, while Mikel Merino is expected to be the next Arsenal transfer confirmed.

There have also been departures, with Emile Smith Rowe heading to Fulham, while Eddie Nketiah is set to join Crystal Palace.

They are not the only Hale End academy graduates to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer, however.

Arsenal confirm Charlie Patino’s departure

Youngster Charlie Patino is the latest player to leave Arsenal after sealing a move to Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna.

The 20-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan in the Championship with Blackpool and then Swansea City – where he has managed to make an impression.

It seems he failed to break into the first team, despite the challenge of winning the title being obvious.

In a statement on the club’s website, Arsenal said: “We thank Charlie for his contribution to the club during his time with us and wish him all the best in his next chapter with Deportivo de La Coruña.”

After sealing his transfer, Patino took the time to send a message to the Arsenal fans who have supported him throughout his journey.

On social media, the message read: “Dear Arsenal fans, First of all, I would like to thank you for all the incredible memories I have had at this historic club.

“It was an honour to represent Arsenal on and off the pitch.

“I joined the club at the age of 11 with the dream of one day making my debut for Arsenal.

“I was lucky enough to have my dream come true and for that I will always be grateful.

“Thanks to the fans, teammates, coaches and everyone connected to the club. Good luck for the future!”

Arsenal Academy Challenge

Patino’s transfer highlights the difficulty Mikel Arteta faces when trying to bring out young talent while competing for the title.

The academy players will certainly get their chance to shine, but that is becoming increasingly rare as the team cannot afford to make mistakes in their relentless pursuit of Manchester City.

With players like Ethan Nwaneri looking like they’re the next ones to make an impact, it’s up to the manager to find a way to bring out that youth in an environment that allows for mistakes and development.
