Loose wallaby captured by Kentucky security camera

Nov. 12 (UPI) — A stray wallaby in Kentucky was captured on a security camera during a late-night visit to the front yard of a Perry County family.

Lexie Mullins posted a video to Facebook she showed the animal she initially thought was a kangaroo jumping across the front lawn of her family’s Chavies home.

“This was filmed in my garden at 9:05pm,” Mullins wrote. “I never thought I would see the day.”

Experts from the Louisville Zoo viewed the images and said the animal is not a kangaroo, but rather the marsupial’s smaller cousin, a wallaby.

Local residents said they believe the animal is an escaped pet, but no owner has yet been identified.

Wallabies are not specifically mentioned in Kentucky’s list of banned exotic pets.
