Road closed due to fatal crash in Phoenix

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A busy road in Phoenix remains closed Monday evening after a fatal crash involving a semi-truck and a car.

Phoenix police responded to the crash on 51st Avenue near Interstate 10 around 10 p.m.

Officers found the driver of the car seriously injured. Sadly, he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Family members said one person remains in the hospital due to this accident.

Police have not yet provided details about the cause of the fatal accident.

Police closed 51st Avenue from Roosevelt to McDowell, as well as the I-10 exit at 51st Avenue.

The accident caused street lights in the area to go out.
