Prime suspect Haji Shahzad Ali arrested over Chhatarpur stone-throwing incident

Madhya Pradesh police have arrested Haji Shahzad Ali, the prime suspect in the recent stone-throwing incident at a police station in Chhatarpur. The arrest was made on Tuesday, local authorities confirmed.

To prevent Ali from fleeing the country, a lookout circular was issued. In addition, the local administration demolished his house, citing unauthorized construction. The unrest erupted following allegedly inflammatory remarks by Hindu prophet Ramgiri Maharaj in Nashik district of Maharashtra.

On August 21, around 300 to 400 protesters, led by religious leaders, gathered at the Kotwali police station to demand legal action against Maharaj. The scene turned violent, including stone-throwing. Further legal action will take place after Ali is produced in court. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other suspects involved.
