Where to Meet Central Florida Candidates Running in November’s Election

While there is a lot of information circulating about national candidates, it is sometimes more difficult to know the views, goals and intentions of the state or local candidates who will be the ones directly leading our surrounding community.

There are many political events that provide an opportunity to learn about the candidates who will be seeking your vote in the November general election. Here is a list of them.

Brevard County

Brevard County Candidate Forum

  • When: September 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Or: Space Coast Health Foundation

  • What: This event provides Brevard County families and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities the opportunity to engage with local officials and discuss community needs for resources and services for these underrepresented groups. This free event is made possible by the Brevard Autism Coalition and Angels Bridging Gaps.

NAACP: Get Ready to Vote

  • When:Saturday, September 21, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Or: Melbourne Auditorium, Melbourne

  • What: Voter information panel, screening of “The Fannie Lou Hamer Story” and candidate panel. Tickets are $15.

Eastern Florida State College Cocoa Applicant Forum

  • When: Tuesday, October 1st, from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

  • When: Eastern Florida State College, Cocoa Campus, 1519 Clearlake Road, Cocoa

  • What: A candidate forum hosted by the League of Women Voters of the Space Coast. The event is free.

Lake County

Decisions 2024: Presentation of Florida amendments

  • When: Several dates, starting Monday September 16

  • Or: Various places around the Villages

  • What: The League of Women Voters is hosting a series of events to inform voters about the six amendments that will be voted on in November. Check the league’s calendar for dates and locations.

South Lake County Candidate Forum presented by Barrels and Boards

  • When: Sunday, September 8, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Or: 7965 Route nationale 50 A500, Groveland

  • What: A Barrels and Boards Candidate Forum open to the public and all South Lake County candidates.

Lake County Candidate Meet and Greet

  • When: Saturday October 5 at 1 p.m.

  • Or: Unitarian Universalist Church of Lake County in Eustis

  • What: Meet local election candidates at this event hosted by the League of Village Women Voters.

Orange County

Hot Topics: Orange-Osceola State Attorneys Forum, presented by League of Women Voters

  • When: Wednesday, September 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • Or: Winter Park Event Center, 1050 W. Morse Blvd., Winter Park

  • What: Hear from candidates for State Attorney in Orange and Osceola Counties. Registration is required.

Ninth Judicial Circuit State Attorneys’ Debate Presented by the Tiger Bay Club of Central Florida

  • When: Friday, September 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

  • Or: Citrus Club, 255 S. Orange Ave., Orlando

  • What: The Tiger Bay Club is hosting a debate with the three candidates for Orange-Osceola County State’s Attorney. The fee for non-members is $50 and includes lunch.

Citizens Summit 2024: Building relationships with elected officials

  • When: Saturday September 28 at 10 a.m.

  • Or: Orlando Florida (location TBD)

  • What: An opportunity to connect with community organizations, learn about voter rights and meet elected officials, presented by Framily Support Network.

Seminole County

County Commission District 5 Forum/Debate Presented by League of Women Voters

  • When: Thursday, October 3, from 6 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

  • Or: Tactical Decision, 430 Towne Center Blvd., Sanford

  • What: Hear from candidates for Seminole County Commission, District 5. The event is free.

Volusia County

Meet the Libertarian Candidates for Region 7

  • When: Saturday August 31 at 2 p.m.

  • Or: Hopkins Hall, 221 North Euclid Ave., Lake Helen

  • What: Join a live Q&A with several Libertarian candidates running in the November election.

Meet the candidates for Volusia County office, hosted by the West Volusia Republican Assembly

  • When: Thursday September 5 at 5:30 p.m.

  • Or: VFW Post 8093, 351 S. Charles Richard Beall Blvd., DeBary

  • What: Meet the candidates for Volusia County Council President.

Eggs and Issues: County Council Candidate Forum

  • When: Thursday, September 12 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

  • Or: Halifax River Yacht Club, 331 S. Beach Street, Daytona Beach

  • What: The Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting a forum with two candidates for Volusia County Council, District 2. Tickets are required.

Get Ready to Vote in November, presented by the League of Women Voters

  • When: Saturday September 28 from 10:30 a.m.

  • Or: The Palmetto Club, 100 S. Beach Street, Daytona Beach

  • What: The league will host a luncheon to educate voters about the six proposed amendments on the November ballot. The cost is $22 and includes lunch.

Hob Nob 2024

  • When: Thursday October 25 at 5 p.m.

  • Or: 105 S. Riverside Drive, New Smyrna Beach.

  • What: An event for people to meet candidates for federal, state and local office, hosted by the Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce.
