Mchunu deplores ‘disregard for human life’ in Limpopo pig farm killings

Farm owner Zachariah Olivier and his two employees, Rudolph De Wet and Willian Musora, are expected to appear in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on Friday in connection with the murders of Maria Makgato and Lucia Ndlovu.

The defendants were charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder and possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Musora, who is a Zimbabwean national, faces an additional charge of being in the country illegally.

“The arrest of these suspects is a step towards justice for the victims and their families,” Mchunu said.

“The horrific nature of this crime demands that justice be served without mercy. I strongly condemn these acts and hope that the court will recognise the gravity of this situation when formally applying for bail.”

Makgato and Ndlovu were shot dead while collecting expired food from the farm.

Ndlovu’s husband, who was with them at the time, was also shot but survived the incident.
