3 taken to hospital after pile-up on SLE involving 5 vehicles

SINGAPORE – Three people have been taken to hospital after the two motorcycles they were riding were involved in accidents with cars on the Seletar Expressway (SLE) on the morning of Oct 26.

Police and the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) were informed of the accidents along the SLE towards Bukit Timah Expressway, before the Turf Club Avenue exit, at around 9.30am.

According to police, the incident involved two cars, two motorcycles and a taxi.

Three people – two male motorcyclists aged 29 and 31, and a 40-year-old female pillion rider – were taken to the Woodlands Health Campus while conscious, police and SCDF said.

Two male motorists, aged 27 and 49, are assisting police with investigations.

In a video posted to SG Road Vigilante on Facebook, the motorcycle collisions – two separate incidents – appear to have occurred within the space of a few seconds and a few cars apart.

In the first incident, a motorcyclist collides with a gray car in front as the car tries to change lanes.

This immediately causes the motorcyclist and his motorcycle to fall over. The driver stops a few seconds later, gets out of his vehicle and walks towards the motorcycle, while the rider limps off the road.

The same video shows another collision – filmed from another car’s dashcam recorder – taking place moments later, when an SUV collides with a motorcyclist and his co-driver, as traffic stops in the aftermath of the first crash.

The police investigation is ongoing.
