Houston crash: Man dead, struck twice while running across lanes on Southwest Freeway

Houston Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Sunday evening in the 6000 block of the Southwest Freeway service road.

At around 8:05 p.m., Houston Police Department (HPD) said a 31-year-old man was struck while running on a freeway offramp by a red Hyundai Elantra that was pulling out.

The impact pushed the man back into the lanes, where he was struck again by a white vehicle. The make and model are currently unknown. The driver of the white vehicle left the scene without stopping to assist.

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.

Police say the 70-year-old male driver of the Hyundai remained at the scene and was questioned by police. Authorities determined he was unaffected and he was released.
