Highway Patrol announces sobriety checkpoints in 14 counties in August

PIERRE, SD (Dakota News Now) – This month, the South Dakota Highway Patrol will conduct sobriety checkpoints in 17 different counties to deter drunk driving.

Checkpoints will be located in Beadle, Brookings, Brule, Clay, Codington, Custer, Day, Edmunds, Fall River, Hutchinson, Jackson, Lawrence, Lincoln, Mellette, Minnehaha, Spink and Stanley counties.

The checkpoints are funded by the South Dakota Office of Highway Safety and conducted by the South Dakota Highway Patrol with assistance from local law enforcement.
