Melania Trump declines invitation to meet Jill Biden over Mar-a-Lago raids when FBI ‘rummaged through her closet’

Former US First Lady Melania Trump has reportedly declined an invitation to attend the traditional White House meeting with first lady Jill Biden following husband and businessman Donald Trump’s victory in the 2020 US presidential election4. Although some media reports say that the conflict for the former is planned lady related to her recently released memoir, some say Melania Trump just doesn’t want to meet Jill Biden.

The reason they have cited is the Mar-a-Lago raids in 2022 when the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) searched the Trumps’ Florida mansion on allegations that he withheld classified White House documents.

‘She’s not going. Jill Biden’s husband has given the FBI permission to rummage through her underwear drawer. The Bidens are disgusting,” a source told the New York Post. “Jill Biden is not someone who should meet with Melania,” the source said.

Jill Biden handed Melania Trump the customary invitation last week, when her husband, Joe Biden, also invited President-elect Donald Trump to the Oval Office, a symbolic gesture to show the country and the world that there will be a peaceful transition of power. With the exception of 2020, it is tradition for the current first lady to receive the new first lady at the White House. In 2016, then-first lady Michelle Obama hosted Melania Trump for tea in the Yellow Oval Room of the White House and took her on a tour of the private home.

Donald Trump and Joe Biden will meet on Wednesday, according to the White House.

Melania Trump had expressed her displeasure over the August 2022 raids in an interview, saying she was angry. “I have seen unpleasant things that no one wants to see. And you get angry because, you know, no one should tolerate that kind of thing,” she had said.

Donald Trump won a second term as president of the United States after gaining 295 electoral votes in the 2024 presidential election, defeating Democratic rival Kamala Harris, who received 226 votes.
