Driver arrested after fleeing Buckeye apartment crash, police say

BUCKEYE, AZ (AZ family) — A driver has been arrested as police investigate a crash involving a car that struck an apartment building in Buckeye early Monday afternoon.

The crash happened around noon at the Chola Ranch Apartments, at the corner of Miller and Baseline roads, when a car crashed into the patio of one of the apartments. Police say the driver then fled the scene.

No one was injured in the damaged apartment, but other people living in a nearby apartment were injured by flying glass. Paramedics also treated a passenger in the car for minor injuries.

Police located and arrested the driver shortly after. It is not yet known what charges he may face.

Miller Road is closed between Baseline and Maricopa roads as crews work to clear the scene. There is no estimated reopening time.
