Two Rivers man Gabriel Soto sentenced to prison for Manitowoc shooting


Soto was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in state prison. When he is released, he will be under extended supervision for 5 years.

MANITOWOC – Gabriel E. Soto, an 18-year-old Two Rivers man, was sentenced to two and a half years in state prison for his role in an incident in December when multiple shots were fired into a vehicle and two apartments on Meadowbrook Drive in Manitowoc.

Soto was arrested after police were called to an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Meadowbrook Drive for a report of multiple shots fired on Dec. 3.

According to a press release from the Manitowoc Police Department, officers received a report that shots were fired at an unoccupied vehicle, but soon received reports of residents receiving bullets in their apartments.

No one was injured during the incident.

During a plea hearing on July 16, Soto was convicted of two felony counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, one felony count of robbery, one felony count of selling a dangerous weapon to a child and one felony count of misdemeanor charge of criminal damage to property.

He appeared at a sentencing hearing Oct. 3 in Manitowoc County Circuit Court before Judge Robert Dewane. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Gail Prost. Soto was represented by attorney Brian Van Ells.

After serving two and a half years in state prison, Soto will be on extended supervision for another five years.
