Dear Abby: My Husband Won’t Fix Our Front Door, and I’m Ready to Call a Divorce Lawyer

Dear Abby: My Husband Won’t Fix Our Front Door, and I’m Ready to Call a Divorce Lawyer

DEAR ABBY: My husband recently replaced the key lock on our front door with a digital lock. Since then, the door no longer locks when you enter or exit. (It “bounces” and doesn’t latch.) I told him it needed to be fixed, but he insists that I “shoot” it. Abby, this door always locked before. The workmen are coming in and out of the house, and I am very concerned.

My husband is fighting tooth and nail about this for some strange reason, and I am ready to leave him. I told him I would fix the door (with his credit card) if he doesn’t. He still refuses. I am sick of it! I want a secure front door. What is wrong here? We have been married for 40 years. Do you recommend a divorce attorney? — INSECURITY IN TEXAS

DEAR UNSAFE: I don’t recommend hiring a divorce lawyer. You deserve to feel safe in your home. Stop arguing with your husband, get proactive and get that damn door fixed. Because he won’t help you, remember the adage, “If you want something done right, do it yourself,” and then step up and take charge.
