Former Mississippi high school accountant pleads guilty to embezzlement

QUITMAN, Miss. (WLBT) – The former high school bookkeeper in Mississippi has pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement.

According to the state auditor, Memory Smith took cash from the Quitman High School activities fund “and put the money into her own personal use.”

Smith was prosecuted in the 10th District Circuit Court and was sentenced to seven years of probation, five years of probation and a $2,000 fine.
