Ugandan opposition leader Bobi Wine injured in shooting

Uganda’s main opposition leader Bobi Wine was shot in the leg by security agents in a northern Kampala suburb on Tuesday, his political party confirmed.

Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi, has recently emerged as a formidable opponent of President Yoweri Museveni, who has ruled Uganda for nearly four decades. “Security agents attempted to assassinate President @HEBobiwine. He was shot in the leg and seriously injured,” the National Unity Platform (NUP) said in a message posted on the X platform.

Police spokesman Patrick Onyango did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
