VHS seeks donations for injured dog after surviving near-death experience

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – The Vanderburgh Humane Society is asking the community for help after taking in a dog that was nearly killed in a car accident.

Officials say Rudy arrived at VHS in September after being hit by a car and brought in by a Good Samaritan who realized he was alive.

According to VHS officials, Rudy has suffered severe head trauma and suffers from luxating patellas, which they say is a painful condition that causes his kneecaps to move out of position when he walks or jumps.

“After surviving a near-death experience, all this boy wants to do is jump for joy,” VHS officials said on social media. “But for that he needs a $3,000 operation.”
