Come together: it’s Steelers week

Come together: it’s Steelers week

Last Thursday evening

A timely fumble caused by Ravens cornerback Marlon Humprhey sparked a heroic comeback for the ages from Lamar Jackson and the Ravens against the Bengals last Thursday.

The MV3 prospect went 25/33, 290 passing yards (323 all-purpose yards), 4 touchdowns.

Bengals QB Joe Burrow also lost his mind, going for 34/56, 428 passing yards and 4 touchdowns.

Ja’Marr Chase is probably still running laps around the Ravens’ secondary. The WR had 11 receptions for 264 yards and 3 TDs on Thursday night.

Somehow, through some key stops on defense and some offensive magic, the Ravens were able to pull out the win, making them 7-3.

The question every week is, “Will this be the week the Raven’s Secondary can solve its communication problems?”

They are one of the worst defenses in the NFL when it comes to giving up explosive plays.

However, there may be some light at the end of the tunnel at least this week.

According to published draft scout Spencer Schultz, Russell Wilson has struggled in zone coverage this season. This Ravens defense under Zach Orr can’t get enough play zone. This can bode well.

To quote B Rabbit from 8 Mile, “If something is going to happen… it has to happen now.”

Looking ahead

The road isn’t getting any easier. The next three games are against the Steelers, Chargers and Eagles.

The good old AFC North rivalry appears to be back. The Steelers have not one but two new quarterbacks. Pittsburgh’s QB 1, Russell Wilson, appears to be in a flashback to his days in Seattle.

Not too much is being asked of him, as the black and yellow roster is loaded with not only familiar faces like George Pickens, but also newcomers like WR Mike Williams and LB Preston Smith.

Over Wilson’s last three games, he had six touchdowns and one interception. The 13-year veteran just shoots when he has to and keeps the ball out of the way.

Ideally, Lamar and the offense can continue to score big, often hoping the defense can limit Sunday’s explosive plays.

The Ravens will also try to avoid what many fans have called “Steeler’s dark magic.”

Last year, when the Ravens played the Steelers on Oct. 8, their wide receivers had no drops in the game. However, the Ravens receivers dropped the ball a total of five times, which sealed their fate.

Daggers

Nelson Aglor dropped what would have been a 44-yard touchdown pass. Mark Andrews dropped a touchdown pass. Rashod Bateman dropped a touchdown pass.

Other than that, Steelers’ coach Mike Tomlin has been getting the best of Harbaugh lately. The Steelers have won the last three games between these two teams.

He has been able to keep these games close or win with less talent. This year is different because these teams are more evenly matched than previous seasons.
