Teacher accused in child abuse incident at Tulare County school arrested

A teacher at a Porterville school was arrested following an investigation into an alleged child abuse incident that occurred last month at a school in the Burton School District in Porterville.

Porterville police began an investigation after receiving a suspected child abuse report from child welfare services on Oct. 24.

The report accused the teacher, Paige Boyd, of pushing a student to the ground.

Responding detectives collected evidence, which led to an arrest warrant for child abuse and endangerment.

Detectives stored the arrest warrant at Boyd’s home in Porterville and took her into custody.

She was booked into the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office South County Detention Facility and later released on a $25,000 bond.

The case has been submitted to the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office for review.

Porterville Police emphasized that student safety and the integrity of the educational environment remain top priorities.

The investigation is ongoing.
