Mini Aussie caught on home camera destroying backyard deck has no worries in the world

Mini Aussie caught on home camera destroying backyard deck has no worries in the world

Have you ever had a dog who loved to get revenge? My dog would express his displeasure after being taken to the groomer by finding the biggest, most disgusting puddle of mud he could on his next walk and lying in it. The Miniature Australian Shepherd in this video has a similar reaction to the indignity of bath time, except he destroys the furniture on his back porch.

And his family filmed it all.

In this video, a Tennessee Mini Aussie named Remy is seen on a porch security camera jumping, diving and rolling on the outdoor sofa cushions until they are scattered all over the patio floor.

“Get an Aussie, they said,” the hilarious video caption reads, and dog owners everywhere have seen this kind of energetic, “zoomy” reaction to a poor pup getting a bath. It’s unclear from this video whether Remi is actually trying to be destructive or just trying to scrub the unpleasant shampoo smell out of his fur.

I guess he couldn’t find a mud puddle.

The History of the “Mini Aussie”

Miniature Australian Shepherds are also known as Miniature American Shepherds due to the complex rules regarding dog breeding and certification in the United States. But don’t be fooled. While the breed’s name remains controversial among its fan community, everyone still knows which dog you’re talking about. The breed has shown creativity by successively breeding generations of naturally smaller Australian Shepherds until a breed standard was reached by the community.

And make no mistake. These little guys are very similar in temperament, appearance, and most importantly, activity level to their larger cousins.

Is a Miniature Australian Shepherd Right for You?

Australian Shepherds are a popular dog breed because of their adorable appearance and boisterous demeanor. But these same personality traits can also have drawbacks, especially for dog owners who aren’t prepared for the enormous amount of energy these dogs have and the damage they can cause if not properly handled.

Australian Shepherds are working dogs, bred to control herds of livestock, sometimes over long distances in the Australian outback. As such, they are among the most intelligent and athletic dog breeds, with enormous stamina and extremely high exercise needs. It is not uncommon for Australian Shepherd owners to say that their dogs require three or four hours of intense exercise per day.

Dogs who don’t get enough exercise can become mischievous or destructive, as seen here. And intelligent dogs, like Australian Shepherds, are particularly treacherous when boredom sets in. I have a friend whose Aussie turns on her TV to keep the poor little girl occupied. (She especially loves the dire wolves from Game of Thrones, but hates the dragons.)

Miniature Aussies also share the same genetic issues as their larger cousins. The popular “merle” coloring that can give Aussies striking blue eyes and spotted fur is truly beautiful, but breeders should be careful when working with animals that possess this coloring, as “double merle” combinations can be born with genetic defects such as blindness and deafness.
