Arizona Cardinals star set to make debut

ARIZONA – The wait for Arizona Cardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr. is almost over.

The rookie sensation is expected to make his regular season debut this weekend when the Cardinals travel to face the Buffalo Bills at Orchard Park.

Harrison, the first-round pick out of Arizona and the fourth overall pick in the draft, played just three snaps in the preseason before head coach Jonathan Gannon decided he had shown enough in training camp practices to warrant staying off the field the rest of the way.

We hear so much about Harrison’s work ethic – in fact, it’s the first thing almost everyone brings up when his name comes up in conversation.

“I would say what impressed me the most was what he does off the field. The way he prepares, the way he gets ready to play, the extra time he puts in. He’s a very mature, serious person, which we knew when we drafted him, but it’s come to fruition. I can’t wait to see him play, he’s ready to play,” Gannon said.

None of Arizona’s starters played in the preseason, leaving Cardinals fans waiting until the regular season to see the connection between Harrison and quarterback Kyler Murray.

“I know the fans are excited, but at the end of the day, I’ve got to go out there and execute what Drew (Petzing) asks of me. I’m super excited for Marv, obviously. I know the type of talent he has and what he’s capable of, but we’ve got to go out there and do it,” Murray told reporters.

“To be honest, I don’t really consider him a rookie. I know he is, but man, his skills and mentality are not at the level of a rookie. I expect him to go out there and do what he does.”

Harrison himself is ready to get to work.

“I think we’ve built great chemistry throughout the summer,” he said of his relationship with Murray. “I’m really excited to see what we do and like I said, I’m going to do my best to help him perform to the best of his ability.”
