British woman arrested at Los Angeles airport wearing meth-soaked t-shirts

Customs officials found the contraband in the suitcase after she checked in on her international flight to Brisbane, Australiaaccording to the criminal complaint.

Prosecutors say the methamphetamine “was wet and caked in approximately thirteen white T-shirts under the lining of the suitcase.” The remainder of the contraband had crystallized into powder form, according to the indictment.

Officials tested the white powder, which returned positive results for methamphetamine, according to the criminal complaint. The combined weight of the T-shirts with the methamphetamine in them weighed approximately 13 kilograms, or just under 30 pounds.

Saakwa-Mante was intercepted at her gate and asked about the suitcase. She admitted that the suitcase was hers and that she had purchased the white T-shirts at a Target use of Apple Payas appears from the criminal complaint. She also confirmed she had receipts, the complaint said.

Saakwa-Mante told officials she was a university student living and studying in Britain a visit to the US for two days, according to the complaint. She said she was heading to Australia to meet her boyfriend, “whom she had never met in person.”

When officials asked her about the white powder on the T-shirts, she claimed she knew nothing about it.

Officers escorted Saakwa-Mante to the bag check area and seized her two iPhones before arresting her.
