RPS announces district cell phone ban effective January 2025

RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond Public Schools announced Tuesday that the district’s cell phone ban will take effect once students return from winter break in January.

In September the Virginia Department of Education said districts across the state A ban was supposed to be in place by early 2025, although some districts such as Hanover and Petersburg had already implemented the bans through the school year.

RPS will host a virtual town hall on Wednesday evening from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM to discuss the new policy.
