Who’s ready for an all-Florida showdown to kick off the 2024 NFL season? The Jacksonville Jaguars travel today to face the Miami Dolphins in hopes of a strong start to the year.

The Jaguars are hoping to return to the playoffs after stumbling late in the season and finishing 9-8 last season. Coach Doug Pederson hopes quarterback Trevor Lawrence takes another step toward stardom after posting his second straight 4,000-yard season but throwing 14 interceptions for 21 touchdowns. He gets a new set of receivers in Gabe Davis and Brian Thomas Jr., a first-round draft pick from LSU who could compete for rookie of the year honors.

The Dolphins are coming off an 11-6 season and their second straight playoff appearance under coach Mike McDaniel. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa led the NFL with 4,624 passing yards, receiver Tyreek Hill had a league-best 1,799 receiving yards, and running back Raheem Mostert tied for the lead with 21 touchdowns. But for the second straight year, Miami was eliminated from the playoffs in the first round, and in the offseason, they had to rebuild their offensive line and defense. The Dolphins could be without cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who started his career with the Jags.
