Area schools receive national awards for best healthcare practices

BARREN, WARREN, MUHLENBERG COUNTIES, Ky. (WBKO) – Out of hundreds of schools across the country, several schools in our view have been named America’s Healthiest Schools of 2024.

The awards, presented by Alliance for a Healthier Generation, recognize schools that implement best practices for the health of students, families and staff.

Below is the list of local winners:

Barren County Schools

  • Austin Tracy Elementary School
  • Barren County High School
  • Barren County High School
  • Eastern Primary School
  • Hiseville Primary School
  • North Jackson Elementary School
  • Parkstad primary school
  • Red Cross primary school
  • Temple Hill Primary School

Bowling Green Independent School District

  • Bowling Green High School
  • Dishman McGinnis Elementary School

Muhlenberg County Public Schools

  • Middenstad primary school
  • Longest primary school

All Barren County Schools mentioned, except Red Cross Elementary, were also All-Star recipients. Only 66 schools in the country received this award, which meets qualifications in nine different categories.

“Both our nutrition staff and Barren Beyond the Bell after-school staff are committed to supporting the physical and social-emotional well-being of our students and staff,” CheyAnne Fant, director of BC Schools Nutrition Services and Barren Beyond the Bell After-schools program, said a press release. “From delicious school meals to creative, thoughtful programming, they offer a wide range of services to meet the needs of our school communities. I am incredibly proud of them and can’t thank them enough for everything they do!”

Employees from Barren Beyond the Bell and Nutrition Services traveled to Little Rock, Alabama to receive the award at the America’s Healthiest Schools Leaders Summit.
