Body camera footage shows incident between Tyreek Hill and Miami-Dade police officers outside Hard Rock Stadium

MIAMI GARDENS, Florida – Authorities on Monday released body camera footage showing Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill handcuffed outside Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday.

The incident occurred as Hill arrived at the stadium for the Dolphins’ first NFL game of the season against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“I wasn’t disrespectful…because my mom didn’t raise me that way, didn’t curse me, none of that,” Hill said after the game when asked what happened.

Miami-Dade Police Director Stephanie Daniels said in a statement Sunday that the department would investigate the incident and that one officer had been placed on administrative leave.

On Monday, the department released several body camera clips showing what happened outside the stadium.

Some of these images can be viewed at the top of this page.

Following the video’s release, the Dolphins released a statement on social media.

Steadman Stahl, who heads the South Florida Police Benevolent Association, the union representing Miami-Dade police officers, released a statement Monday saying Hill’s refusal to cooperate led to his detention and the situation that followed.

“He (Hill) was briefly detained for safety reasons after driving in a manner that placed himself and others in grave danger,” Stahl wrote. “After being arrested, Mr. Hill did not immediately cooperate with the officers on scene who, in accordance with policy and for their immediate safety, placed him in handcuffs.”
