TPSO increases patrols, announces mandatory curfews ahead of Tropical Storm Francine – The Times of Houma/Thibodaux

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet confirmed that due to the projection of a landfall in or near Terrebonne Parish of Tropical Storm Francine expected on Wednesday, 2024, numerous precautionary measures will be implemented at the parish level for the safety of residents.

Sheriff Soignet has remained in constant communication with other local government leaders in anticipation of this upcoming weather event and wants to reassure Terrebonne Parish residents that our agency is prepared to provide resources at full capacity during the event.

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office will begin increasing its patrol capacity beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 and will maintain its 12-hour patrol shifts until further notice. Authorities will be patrolling the streets in increased numbers to protect the property of those evacuating and assist citizens who are unable to evacuate.

Sheriff Tim Soignet has confirmed that due to the updated weather forecast for Tropical Storm Francine, Terrebonne Parish will be under a mandatory curfew for all areas in ZONE 1 south of the Morganza levee system, effective 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. This curfew will be implemented in conjunction with the mandatory evacuation that has been issued by the parish government for the same areas.

The ZONE 1 zones are as follows:


  • South of the Pointe-Aux-Chênes valve
  • South of Bayou Terrebonne, relief valve at Lower Montegut
  • Jean Charles Island
  • South of the Bayou Petite Caillou diversion valve, including Cocodrie
  • South of the Levee Road ramp on Four Point Road in Lower Dulac
  • South of the Lower Dularge relief valve

Additionally, a mandatory curfew will also be in effect throughout the parish for the foreseeable future as we continue to monitor storm activity. Details and information will be released as they become available.
