On Monday, August 26, around 2 a.m., a man sleeping in front of the authentic Mexican restaurant Cuca was violently attacked, and the scene was caught on camera.

In the video you can see a man wearing a red tracksuit jacket, jeans and white shoes start kicking the man on the ground for no apparent reason and then walking away.

Fresno police said a witness called officers to tell them a homeless man needed medical attention.

When police arrived, they said they found the 47-year-old victim with significant head injuries.

Police said the man was taken to CRMC for his injuries.

The witness told police he saw the suspect running east on Olive Avenue.

It is unclear whether the man knew the individual sleeping on the ground or why he began attacking him.

Detectives from the Street Violence Bureau are hoping someone will come forward and recognize the man.

Under California Penal Code Section 242, any person who willfully causes actual injury or pain through unlawful use of force may be charged with a misdemeanor.

If the person in the video is arrested, he or she could face up to six months in prison and a $1,000 fine.

If you have any information about the suspect, you can call Valley Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867 and refer to case number 2408260080.

Remember, you are never required to give a name and if your information leads to an arrest, you could get a cash reward.
